Walking around College Ave on this hot, sunny day, I am surrounded by hundreds of tables and people searching for organizations and clubs to get involved with.  I was eager to find clubs that involved Communication because I knew I wanted to major in that.  As a sophomore, I still had no idea what I wanted to do with that major.  I had some sort of idea, however, I didn’t know for sure.  I pass a table with a white and blue appeal with the letters PRSSA across the banner.

I would like to think stopping at this table is a blessing from the Gods or something because I finally figured out what I want to do.  Stepping into my first meeting and seeing brand new faces I have never seen before, my apprehension starts to rise.  The eboard members introduce themselves and they begin talking about their internships.  I started to realize that this is where I belong.  I want to do public relations, I thought to myself.  I listen as these members talk about internships they have gotten at Z100, NBC Studios, and Viacom through PRSSA.  These are the places I would imagine myself working at in the future.  As the meeting progresses, I feel myself at ease.  This is what I want to do.  I finally figured out my major and I set my goal to become more active in this club to pursue my future career.

Joining PRSSA has inspired me to specialize in Public Relations with my Communication major.  The eboard members do a tremendous job at helping us embellish our resumes and preparing us for future internships by holding workshops and bringing in wonderful guest speakers from amazing companies, such as Amazon and Honeywell.  These are my first few weeks here and I am already writing for the PRSSA blog.  They offer so many great opportunities to get ourselves out there and they are there to help us when we need it.
